ReferNet
ReferNet is a network established by the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop). It aims to meet the growing demand for comparable information across Europe in Vocational Education and Training (VET).
The Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket) is the Swedish coordinator. The Swedish consortium mainly consists of the members of the representatives from all major vocational education and training actors in the country.
Structure
ReferNet provides a decentralised forum for exchanging information. It is based on national consortia of the 29 participating countries (the 27 EU member states as well as Norway and Iceland), which are made up of VET stakeholders.
Each consortium is led by a national coordinator responsible for constructing the consortium and ensuring the networks' tasks are performed satisfactorily.
The network brings together organisations with common interests in developing vocational education and training and learning. It encourages common exchanges of information and promotes partnerships.
It provides members of the consortium with an opportunity to broaden their contacts with other international organisations within and outside Europe.
Tasks
The network's tasks fall into three categories:
- documentation and dissemination;
- collecting and analysing information;
- research
ReferNet contributes to developing of a concerted approach to research. Through common exchanges, it provides greater transparency, synergy and dissemination of national and European vocational education and training research.
